The second single of the "Glitter" album, "Never too far", was released
on September 24, 2001. Billboard Magazine writes about this
single: "Virgin goes for the gusto with a shimmering ballad that showcases
the singer/songwriter excelling at what made her a famous a
decade ago: singing the hell out of a straight ahead love song free of
gimmicks, gymnastics and self-conscious attempts at targeting any
particular demographic."
In Europe and Australia, this single was a double A-side with
"Don't stop (funkin' for Jamaica)". In Japan, "Reflections (care enough)"
was released as the second single. In the USA, only "Loverboy" was
released as a commercial single.
The video for this single was taken from the movie "Glitter". The
record company wanted Mariah to film a new video, but having suffered
a physical and emotional breakdown, Mariah had been in no
condition to shoot a video.
