Mariah Carey takes break from motherhood

Mariah Carey proved "dem babies" aren't slowing her down on Thursday night. The songbird gave her first concert since giving birth to twins Monroe and Moroccan Scott last year at the Total Rewards concert at Manhattan's Gotham Hall.

"Everyone has been making such a big deal about this performance and saying 'this is her return performance' and 'this is her first night back on stage' as if I haven't been on stage since the mid 80's," Carey told the audience after singing "It's Like That" upon taking the stage.

Carey also showed the appreciative crowd that motherhood hasn't curbed her diva ways. After her second song, Carey asked concertgoers if they liked her skyscraper-heeled shoes. Explaining that she wasn't sure she liked her kicks, Carey shouted the name of her stylist and a glam squad of primpers swarmed her like a NASCAR pit crew to touch up Mimi's hair and make-up.

The audience roared their approval, as they did when Carey blamed an in-concert slip-up on the demands of motherhood. While singing her hit "Always Be My Baby," the singer began the song about a verse and a half too early. "The babies got me all confused!" she chirped when she realized the mistake.

At the end of her concert, Carey hinted that a concert tour may be in the works when she told crowd: "Maybe I'll be on another stage sometime soon."
