Superstars overshadow undiscovered singers

Mariah Carey signed on with American Idol making some fans wonder if the reality shows are about the contestants or the judges. The news on Monday with the announcement of the diva being part of American Idol confirmed what people had speculated for some time; Mariah Carey is ready for reality television.

While it might be surprising to her fans, for the audience base of Britney Spears, it was an all too obvious moment that brought a reminder that superstars are looking to be on television. Deciding to take on a new weekly role, Britney Spears shockingly signed on for X Factor before the audition season began.

While the reality singing competitions seem to be lining up big stars for the upcoming seasons, there is a new element that people are going to be looking at and it has little to do with the undiscovered talent. With divas like Britney Spears and Mariah Carey as part of the programs, fans will have to decide if they will focus on the music or the stars. Most likely it will be more entertaining to watch the stars.

Reality television looks to have just altered course for the upcoming season. People will be watching for Mariah Carey and Britney Spears leaving the winners of American Idol and X Factor completely be forgotten after the season is over as the professionals still draw the fans. Undiscovered talent doesn't hold a candle to professional artists and reality is that singing competitions are becoming a popularity of the past.
