Ever the diva
Your average frequent flyer may have already got the tip to dress down for cross-continental
jaunts. But then again, Mariah Carey has never been just average. The 42-year-old was keen
to show off her curves as she jet to an airport in New York tonight, wearing a fitted
floor-length dress, sky-high stilettos and oversized sunglasses for her flight to Tokyo.
The singer wore her hair was also perfectly coiffed and curled around her shoulders, and
a full face of make-up as she arrived to JFK headed to Japan. Mariah topped her look off
with a cropped leather jacket, and accessorised her ruffled ensemble with drop earrings,
a cocktail ring and a long feather necklace that draped over her bust.
Clutching her smartphone in hand, she lifted not a finger for a piece of baggage, presumably
taken care of by her assistants. The singer is coming off a high-energy performance in New
York on Wednesday night, which saw her belt out her new single Triumphant (Get 'Em) at the
NFL Opening Kickoff event at Rockefeller Center.
While Cee-Lo Green earlier took to the stage on a throne, Mariah showed waited one minute
and 30 seconds into the track before showing up - a black and white video with the words
"fashionably late" flashing behind her. As the doors opened, the star made her entrance in
a dazzling gold mini dress with a train and matching wrap, which blew back as she was hit
with a row of wind machines.
Of course, the ensemble was only the first for Mariah, who treated fans to a rendition of
Touch My Body and flaunted her figure in a sequined black frock teamed with glittering peep
toe pumps.
The Always Be My Baby star wasn't the only one to sing at the ceremony. Rockers No Doubt
were also on hand. Gwen Stefani showed off her toned abs in a black sports bra and checked
trousers, which she teamed with leather boots, as the newly reunited band performed their
comeback single Settle Down.
