Mariah Carey gets windswept as she rides motorcycle

She is known for her perfectly poised appearance; always fully groomed and manicured in public. But Mariah Carey doesn't worry about having a strand of hair out of place in her new music video. A preview clip of the star's new video for her track Beautiful was released on Thursday and fans will be pleased to see she has somewhat let her hair down. The 43-year-old can be seen whipping her blonde tresses around and running her hand across her face in a seductive fashion in the collage of shots from her new offering.

The preview piece shows Mariah - who is mother to nearly two-year-old twins with husband Nick Cannon - absolutely smothered in her long mop as she frolics in the wind. At one point the star can be seen kicking a pair of expensive Christian Louboutin heels off her feet as she mounts a motorbike.

It's surprising seeing as the American Idol judge has refused to give standing ovations after some incredible performances on the show, to remain comfortable in her fitted designer clothing. As slow guitar music plays in the background of the video which also features Miguel, fans are teased as text on the screen reads that "a new era begins" on May 6.

Her music collaboration partner - who was named on 2013's Time 100 Most Influential People In The World as a record producer - can be seen smiling into the side mirror of his car. After posted a video online for her followers to view, she tweeted a snap of her dress for her recording of the TV talent show that evening. She captioned the snap taken outside her house: "Leaving the lair, thanks for the beautiful dress, official Pavoni by Mikael D." Her lacy silver number will give her plenty of room for movement as it fell mid-way down her thighs.

The sweetheart bust line also featured an X shape in sequins at the top and she wore it with blonde locks iron poker straight. Apart from various side projects Mariah hasn't released new music since 2009's Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Earlier this year she appeared on the soundtrack for Great and Powerful Oz with her song Almost Home and she has re-jigged her famous Christmas tracks for the festive season. She previously told Billboard her forthcoming album would have "more raw ballads than people might expect". Producers on the LP include Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Big Jim Wright, Hit-Boy, The-Dream and Rodney Jerkins.
