Should Mariah Carey be replaced for 2014?

Mariah Carey caused a huge stir at the American Idol judges' table before she even took a seat. Between the fact that the huge pop star even accepted the position and the early and controversial feud with Nicki Minaj, everyone was expecting her to create a lot of waves.

Alas, Mariah began the season and there was nary a blip. Her ho-hum, vanilla, super nice wwwcritiques went over like a led balloon and have made us wonder - should Mariah Carey be replaced for American Idol 2014?

The known diva took a jab at the powers that be at American Idol 2013 by saying on air that they criticized her for being too gentle on the contestants. Since then, Mariah's tried to give more meaty critiques but, many times, they end up rambling and rambling until the rest of the panel seems confused, America is bored, and Nicki is rolling her eyes.

On the bright side, it always seems as though the hopefuls have nothing but wonderful things to say about Mariah. In fact, in recent backstage interviews, Kree Harrison and Angie Miller both expressed their desire to see Mariah stay.

After hearing stories of her outrageous diva demands, it's nice to know that Mimi has a softer side. Is that enough to keep her around, though? At the end of the day, we think not. The early buzz is that producers are going to look for lesser known folks at the judges table next year, and we tend to agree that might be the way to go. If it were up to us, Mariah would be replaced for American Idol 2014.
