Darhyl "DJ" Camper Jr. reveals new Mariah song

Darhyl "DJ" Camper Jr.
Darhyl "DJ" Camper Jr. attended last year's Grammy Awards, but walked away empty handed as the best R&B song trophy went to Miguel with his song "Adorn". Camper, a 2008 Oakcrest High School graduate, returns today to the ceremony with a much better chance of winning something. The 23-year-old worked on four different Grammy-nominated CDs by such artists as Jay Z, John Legend and Tamar Braxton that compete in five categories. The songwriter and producer said he feels overwhelmed knowing he worked on four projects connected to six Grammy nominations. His nominations include: best R&B song and best urban contemporary album.

Camper productions that have already been recorded and are waiting for release include: the title track of Ledisi's CD "The Truth" set to hit stores March 11; a song called "Dedication", on Mariah Carey's album "The Art of Letting Go"; a song on Chris Brown's upcoming album "X"; and songs on the upcoming CDs by Estelle and Ne-Yo. Camper will enter the recording studio this year with Elle Varner, Brandy; rappers Kanye West and Common; Keri Hilson; a new rapper named Big Crit; and return engagements with Tamar Braxton and hip-hop artists Pusha T and Big Sean.
