"You're Mine" offers a soft and angelic R&B sound

The vocal powerhouse diva that is Miss Mariah Carey has debuted her brand new single, "You're Mine (Eternal)", and with that being said, I'm sure her fan base full of lambs and sheep and whatever else are rejoicing. The sheep bit was of course a joke, but Mariah does refer to her fans as lambs, so I'm sure they're quite happy.

"You're Mine (Eternal)" is the third single from Mariah's fourteenth studio album "The Art Of Letting Go" (yes, you did read that right, I did say fourteenth) which is scheduled to be released on May 6th - marking her first album release in five years, since Memoirs Of A Perfect Angel was revealed in 2009, four years after my favourite Mariah album "The Emancipation of Mimi" arrived back in 2005. The singer also unveiled the accompanying cover art for the track, which ironically contains several love hearts.

On first listen the track is very slightly reminiscent of what is my opinion, definitely "classic Mariah" and instantly reminds me of one of her best ballads, and my favourite song of hers (you get the picture) "We Belong Together", with echoes of "For The Record", "Don't Forget About Us" and "Shake It Off" reaffirming that soft, chilled and angelic sound of R&B she's well known for. "You make me feel, our love would never end," the songstress begins, "How can I forget? Baby we were the best," she continues in the chorus to her ode to relationships.

The vocal display is something else, and the 44-year-old even goes on to hit one of those glass-shattering whistle notes at the end of the song - making sure listeners remember she's far from finished yet... her remarkable career has yet to stop bringing her accolades. However, overall I think the song is okay, it's a grower, but I think I just was expecting more. I just hope Mariah's album boasts more songs like her previous track "#Beautiful" which features Miguel. Along with the solo version, Mariah also chose to premiere the official remix at the same time, featuring one of my favourite male singers, Trey Songz, where the two singers voices blend in a duet.
