Mariah Carey fires Jermaine Dupri after album flop

If Lady Gaga's ARTPOP was the most mismanaged album from a major pop diva last year, then this year's biggest bomb belongs to Mariah Carey's Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse. With sales of under 100,000 copies and a terrible promotional campaign that messed everything up from single releases to promo and everything in between, it's no surprise to learn that Mariah has now said sayonara to her manager and long-time musical collaborator, Jermaine Dupri.

According to Billboard magazine, Mimi is now working with Kevin Liles, who was the president of Def Jam during the diva's tenure at the label (a time that yielded the 12-million selling The Emancipation of Mimi). In a statement to Billboard, Dupri said, "I'm a very hands-on person when it comes to my work. I put my all into every project. But when I'm not allowed to do what I do, then I know it's time for me to move on." He continued, "Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future."

This is third major management change that Mariah has undergone in the past year-and-a-half alone, signalling just how unstable her career has become. Things really started going bad around the time she released the non-charting "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" in late 2012, and then started getting worse with her messy stint on American Idol, a public feud with Nicki Minaj, more flop singles, and now The Elusive Chanteuse debacle.
