Mariah Carey to play Malaysia for first time in a decade

Internationally-recognized singer Mariah Carey will return to Malaysia after 10 years as part of her worldwide "The Elusive Chanteuse Show" tour next month, the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board said Monday in a press release.

"The Elusive Chanteuse Show" in Malaysia will be organized by IME Productions and supported by Malaysia Major Events, an agency under the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture. The event will take place at 8:00 pm (local time) on October 22 at the Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur.

"We are excited to have Mariah Carey to perform here in Malaysia in October. Mariah's live concert in Malaysia 2014 is a wonderful way to bring people together and we are very pleased to be able to support it. Such event will further complement arrivals for Visit Malaysia Year 2014, especially from the fans from the region and it also complements Malaysia's position as a top-of-mind destination for live entertainment in South East Asia," said Tony Nagamaiah, general manager of Malaysia Major Events.

"This event is expected to bring in about 3,000 fans from across the region with an estimated tourist spend of over RM15 million. Malaysia Major Events is glad to reward fans with this priceless opportunity to meet their favourite idol and hear to her sing their favourite songs," he added.

Carey's concert in Kuala Lumpur is also expected to draw huge international attention. Online tickets purchases can be made through the official ticketing agency website, www.ticketcharge.com.my. Fans can also call the TicketCharge hotline at +603 92228811, or the IME Productions hotline at +603 21666166 for ticket and concert information.
