Mariah warms hearts in NYC with true holiday message
Mariah Carey ended her very successful Christmas concert at the Beacon Theater Monday night and what many do not know is that the diva used her first annual "All I Want For Christmas" concert run to proclaim the true meaning of Christmas. BreatheCast attended the elaborate event and was pleased to see the pop sensation lift up the birth of Jesus as the reason to celebrate.
As hundreds gathered into the Beacon Theater for another sold out show, everyone was eager for the pop star to hit the stage. In true Carey fashion she was dressed in a full-length white sparkling gown for first few numbers of the concert. The songstress immediately put the audience into the Christmas Spirit with her rendition of the Christmas song, "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing/Gloria (In Excelsis Deo)". Not succumbing to the pressures that some do of shying away from saying, God or Jesus, Carey was sure to sing praise throughout the entire show to "the new born King".
Carey kept her set list very focused on Christmas for the first couple of numbers. Performing songs from both her first and second Christmas album. Nearly every song focused on Jesus and his birth with songs such as, "Oh Holy Night", "Silent Night", "Joy to The World", and her best friend Trey Lorenz leading, "Jesus Oh What A Wonderful Child".
At one point the singer even got on her knees and thanked God proclaiming that He will help anyone going through a hard time. Carey did perform a few numbers during the concert that were perhaps geared towards her very public split to husband Nick Canon. "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" being one of those emotional numbers.
Carey of course kept the show very festive featuring child performers singing and dancing as she had her costume changes, aerial dancers, Santa, and a gospel choir. Other songs on the bill were, "Charlie Brown Christmas", "Oh Santa" and "When Christmas Comes".
The New York native even performed for fans some of her No. 1 songs that were not on her Christmas album such as, "Emotions", "We Belong Together", and "Hero". During her introduction of "Hero" Carey explained that she initially wrote the song for someone else but was advised to keep it and now it has been ministering to her. During the performance she said she was fighting back the tears. She ended the night with a grand finale performance of "All I Want For Christmas".
Overall Carey's vocal skills were incredible, discrediting all rumors that she lost her singing chops. Carey made sure to sing every song live and even sung some of the things she said in between the songs. Like "I love you more" every time a fan yelled, "I love you Mariah," or she would sing let me get a drink of water. It was pretty comical. Despite all of the emotional trauma she endured as of lately, the legendary singer was in high spirits and surely gave fans a delightful memory this holiday season. (BreatheCast)
