Couple did not make reservations at fancy restaurant

Mariah Carey and James Packer did not make several reservations at an upscale restaurant in Italy, but then never show up, despite a phony tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We're told it's "false".

According to Life & Style, the singer and her billionaire fiance recently made reservations five nights in a row for a table at the fancy eatery Terrazza Brunella in Capri, but didn't attend a single time. A so-called "source" tells the tabloid, "James ended up paying thousands of dollars to the restaurant" which supposedly "flew in Mariah's favorite wine from France, and created a special children's menu just for Mariah's twins".

The magazine's dubious insider further alleges Carey and Packer "made a point to compensate the restaurant for the no-shows" so it didn't lose revenue, "but the table was just empty every night".

Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for the singer, who exclusively assures the magazine's claim is flat-out "false". The publication's story was seemingly created to insinuate the wealthy couple frivolously spend cash with little regard for their money. But this never happened.

Of course, we're not particularly surprised by the outlet's made-up story. Gossip Cop recently busted Life & Style for wrongly reporting Carey and Packer were having a baby. And shortly before that, we called out the tabloid for an inaccurate article about Carey and Packer calling off their wedding. The magazine's latest claim about the couple is equally untrue.
