Mariah Carey brings Christmas concert to London

She has received her first ever Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song for her Christmas tune The Star from the animated movie of the same name. And Mariah Carey celebrated the "humbling" recognition just hours later with a jubilant performance for her fans at the packed O2 Arena in London on Tuesday.

No doubt thinking ahead to awards season, the 47-year-old superstar slipped her phenomenal curves into a showstopping red-carpet worthy golden gown. The Touch My Body singer certainly took centre-stage in the metallic column gown, which cinched in her tiny waist and featured a plunging neckline.

Styling her blonde tresses in voluminous waves, the mum-of-two framed her striking features with nude lipstick and lashings of mascara. In true Mariah style, the All I Want For Christmas songstress accessorised her decadent look with plenty of dazzling diamond jewellery.

The chart-topper's stage performance comes just hours after she thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for her Golden Globe nomination. She tweeted: "Thank you so much to the HFPA for the Golden Globe nomination for The Star. As songwriters, myself and my dear friend and collaborator Marc Shaiman are truly honored. What a humbling experience to be included in this group of amazing songwriters."

She is competing for Best Original Song with Mary J. Blige and Nick Jonas. Blige earned nominations Monday for her work in the Dee Rees' period film "Mudbound". She's up for best supporting actress in a motion picture and best original song for Mighty River, which she co-wrote.

Discussing their rivalry, Blige said: "Listen, I've been a fan of Mariah Carey since Mariah Carey came out. It's a beautiful thing to see all of your peers at the same time being blessed and nominated and recognized for our work."

"For me songwriting is my outlet, the way that I express myself and the way that I share my stories. It's been the through line of my life since I was about seven years old," said Nick, who shares his nomination with Justin Tranter and Nick Monson. "To be recognized for a song about my family and my loved ones makes it that much sweeter."

Nick and Mariah are first-time Globe nominees, while Mary was up for an award at the 2012 show for The Living Proof from the film, The Help.
