Mariah Carey has an Election Day message for you

Tuesday is Election Day, and many people around social media are sharing with their followers the importance of voting. Mariah Carey is no exception. The singer shared an Instagram post with her fans on Tuesday morning, urging them to take part in one of the most important civic duties a citizen can take: voting.

Outfitted in a sequins dress and sitting on a couch, Carey posted a video of herself speaking directly to the camera. "Okay, the polls are open, everybody get out there and vote," the pop diva said with enthusiasm in her voice. "Vote darlings, don't be bleak," she added, with a smile and a small chuckle.

She also captioned her post, writing, "It's Election Day. Find your polling place and go vote." Carey shared a link at the end of her post to iwillvote.com, which gives constituents across the country details about where and how they can vote on Election Day.

The 48-year-old pop superstar has been encouraging her fans to vote for several weeks now. At the start of October, she also shared a throwback image of herself on her Instagram account, recalling her time with and contribution to the "Vote Or Die" movement back in 2004, per previous reporting from the Inquisitr.

Within that post, Carey emphasized that "the message is still relevant today", urging her followers again to make sure their voices were counted.

Sadly, Carey, whose iconic song "All I Want For Christmas Is You" will soon be playing on the radio airwaves (as it does every year), did not adapt that track to fit an Election Day motif. Still, her video message to fans to get out and vote will likely result in many actually doing so.

Celebrities have made their presence known in this year's elections. After Taylor Swift urged her fans to register to vote, tens of thousands did so.

Yet while Carey stayed away from promoting a particular message about voting, Swift's own Instagram posting also asked her fans to consider supporting Democratic candidates, which may have led to a "bump" for some in her home state of Tennessee, according to another previous report from the Inquisitr.

Model Gigi Hadid found a way to tell her fans to vote as well. On her way to her fittings for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Sunday, Hadid shared an image of herself wearing a "vote" shirt, while also writing in the post, "On or before Tuesday. Please vote November 6," according to reporting from Teen Vogue.
