Mariah reacts to Southern California earthquake

"That was a huge one." Or so says Lana Del Rey, one of many music stars in Los Angeles who were rattled Wednesday (July 4) by 6.4 magnitude that struck near in the Mojave Desert, about 150 miles northeast of L.A., near the town of Ridgecrest, California.

Other artists Mariah Carey, Jenny Lewis, and Tyler, the Creator (who coincidentally has a new song titled "Earfquake") also shared their surprise over the quake on social media.

"I was like... Do I roll out of bed and get to the doorway? I'm from New York, I can't handle this!" Carey tweeted shortly after feeling the earthquake. Tyler, meanwhile, simply stated his excitement with a series of exclamation marks, followed by a link to "Earfquake".

People from Las Vegas to the Pacific Coast reported feeling a rolling motion and took to social media to report it, the Associated Press reports. Local emergency agencies took to social media to ask people to only call 911 for emergencies.

"We are very much aware of the significant earthquake that just occurred in Southern California. Please do not call 9-1-1 unless there are injuries or other dangerous conditions. Don't call for questions please," the LAPD said in a statement published on Twitter.
