"Lover Boy" released on June 26, 2001

Mariah may be resting well in Spain, but she won’t be for long because the months ahead are bound to be a spiral from country to country in promotion on her new single, album and movie. MCWNO was told by close sources at Camelot Music (a division of TWEC Enterprises) that Mariah’s brand new single will be released commercially on June 26, in the United States. Some people think that sounds too early. But in contrast, it’s not. Compare it to the situation with the "Rainbow" album for instance. If the single is going to be commercially released in late June, a promotional single should hit airwaves in mid May. For example, "Heartbreaker" was released to radio on August 16, 1999 and the commercial single was available on September 21.

But if "All That Glitters", the movie, will hit theaters August 31 (as announced by Fox Movies), and the soundtrack album is scheduled to be released simultaneously with the movie, that gives a two month leeway between the commercial single release and soundtrack album and movie opening. However, that was the case with the "Rainbow" album. "Heartbreaker", the lead single from the LP, was released September 21, while the album was released some two months later on November 2, so it all makes very much sense.

Although we can almost certainly confirm Mariah’s new single will be available June 26, there is no official title specified by Virgin Records. We are left with only "T.B.A.", which means, "to be announced". However, most likely, the single will be "Lover Boy", because we know this is an official song and we also know there is at least one remix already created.

So by knowing we should be hearing Mariah’s new track on the radio in less than a month, we should be prepared when it comes time to promoting her new single. While it is surely going to be heavily promoted by Mariah’s new record company, Virgin, it is out duty as her fans to request the song once it comes out. MCWNO will soon be creating a support page for the single, so keep your eye out on that. And also be on the look out for any further news on Mariah’s new single, in stores June 26.

Many thanks to Will from MCWNO.
