Kevin Spacy sues alleged cybersquatter

Kevin Spacey has sued a man he claims is an "infamous cybersquatter" who is using the actor's name to promote a commercial celebrity Web site. In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, Spacey and M. Profitt Productions say they own the rights to Spacey's name, voice, and image cultivated in the theater and movies. The suit alleges that Jeff Burgar of High Prairie in Alberta, Canada, is using the domain name www.kevinspacey.com to link to a site with polls about celebrities.

The suit says Burgar has used other celebrity names in the past, including Jodie Foster, Tom Cruise and Mariah Carey, and has been sued dozens of times for registering names of well-known people or products as domain names. Spacey and M. Profitt are asking a judge to order Burgar to sign over the domain name and for monetary damages.
