Did Mariah cover "Super Freak"?
According to Shino from "Love Love Jack", many Japanese media companies are reporting that Mariah has covered the 1981 Rick James classic "Super Freak". Here's an excerpt from the article:
"Carey collaborated on the soundtrack with 'Super Freak' singer Rick James and production team Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The record will also feature contributions by Da Brat and a duet between Carey and Benét."
However, these rumors are probably false due to the variations in translations. For instance, this particular Japanese article says "Carey collaborated on the soundtrack with 'Super Freak' singer Rick James", but does not imply that Mariah actually covered the track.
This article could have been reported a bit differently by other sources to make it sound as if Mariah actually covered the 80's anthem.
