Mariah Carey inks new deal
Mariah Carey has signed a deal with Island Def Jam Music Group. Universal Music Group
Chairman/CEO Doug Morris who labeled Mariah as "an international treasure" made the official
announcement yesterday. Mariah told Hits Daily Double, "I'm incredibly happy. It's a tremendous
and unprecedented opportunity to be working in tandem with Doug, Lyor and Jimmy [Iovine], and
to have the benefit of their powerful international forces, led by Jorgen Larsen. They have
collectively helped redefine pop music and I am excited to be part of their family."|
Mariah was previously signed to EMI/Virgin and was dumped by the record company walking away
with A$120 million. Mariah went to EMI/Virgin from Sony Music/Columbia, where her records have
cumulatively sold over 100 million units worldwide, making her the best-selling female performer
of all time. Expect new material from Mariah in the New Year.

Mariah's arrival at Vegas will be live streamed on the app periscope. The live stream will start 6pm Pacific time. There will also be a live stream interview hosted by Mashable at 8pm. I guess I need to get the Periscope app.

I'm amazed with all the promotional push MC and Epic are doing, I have a great feeling Infinity do very well. Also in my opinion Epic has done more promotion for this single than IDJ has for her last couple albums. It is really true "thunder precedes the sunlight" and where are all those "lambs" that were counting MC out a few months ago?
