Three more singles from Charmbracelet
Between 1990 and July 2001, Mariah has one hit after another. She is the best-selling artist of the 90's, with a total of 150 million copies. In July 2001, she signs a contract with Virgin. She will get $80 million for recording 4 albums. But before Glitter, the first album under her new contract and the sountrack of her movie in which she plays the leading part, is released, Mariah gets a nervous breakdown. The album only sells 2 million copies (!) worldwide, and Virgin wants to get rid of the contract. Mariah is again free to do what she wants.
In May 2002, Mariah signs a new deal with Universal for 3 albums and gets $37 million. For the first album, Charmbracelet, to be released December 2, Mariah works with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, known for their work with Janet and Michael Jackson, George Michael and Mary J. Blige. "Through The Rain", written by herself together with Zilonel Cole, is her 34th single in the Dutch charts. Even though it is the Mega Hit of the week, the question is of it will be the start of a new career or the end of her career. When you listen closely to the single, you won't hear the old Mariah and also you won't hear a renewed Mariah. Time will tell if her fans stay loyal to her. On December 13, the Dutch TV Show will broadcast the preformance she did a month ago. There are 3 more singles planned. (Music Planet)
