Don't break the link - forward the charm

2003 is off to a great start for legendary singer Mariah Carey. Releasing her "come-back" album "Charmbracelet" in early December last year, many questioned whether the Grammy Award-winning singer could return to the top of the charts. However Carey, who writes and producers all her own material, has scored a hit with the emotional lead single, "Through The Rain". Bolstered by a standing ovation inducing performance at the American Music Awards, increased airplay sees it shoot straight to #1 on this week's Billboard Dance/Club Play chart.

The lead single is an example of the personal nature of "Charmbracelet", a Billboard Top 3 album that has already been certified Platinum (1 million copies) by the Recording Industry Association of America, selling nearly double that of Whitney Houston's latest release. Worldwide sales have reportedly already reached 2.5 million, and that figure is expected to explode with Carey soon venturing out on a world tour, the scale of which will be bigger than anything the 32-year-old has ever produced.

Listen out for the new single "Boy (I Need You)" featuring Cam'ron and its high-tech futuristic video. You can catch Carey singing the national anthem at Daytona 500 on February 16th, America's most-watched sporting event (on-site attendance and television viewership combined). Mariah Carey's "Charmbracelet" out now on MonarC Music/Island Def Jam/Universal.
