BINY makes top 30 debut in Australia

"Boy (I Need You)", the second single lifted from Mariah's latest album "Charmbracelet", has debuted at #29 on the Australian Recording Industry Association singles chart. This debut is quite respectable seeing as it received literally no major airplay.

In what was a massive week of new release singles, Mariah was the fifth highest debut behind Kasey Chambers (#5 - excessive airplay for months), Madonna (#7 - most hyped song of the year), Boomkat (#18 - great airplay for their debut single) and Shakaya (#27 - in-store appearances around the country). Singles by Leanne Rimes, Shawn Desman, Nas and Lil' Kim did not even make the top 50.

Strangely, "Boy (I Need You)" has not been listed on the ARIA Urban singles chart. It is obviously an "urban" song, not to mention it features rapper, Cam'ron. Had it debuted on the Urban chart it would've entered at #11. In album news, "Charmbracelet" drops another five places to #35 on the ARIA Urban albums chart. It has not been on the standard album chart for months.
