Carey's "Boy" debuts at #29

Mariah Carey's current album, "Charmbracelet", was released back in December last year and spent just one week at number 42 on the albums chart before dropping out of the top 50. The first single from that album, a track titled "Through The Rain", debuted at number 15 and dropped out of the top 20 the next week. So you could say that things aren't too good for Mariah in Australia at the moment.

Compare this to the huge success she enjoyed during the 1990s when she notched up an impressive ten top 10 singles and had huge selling albums that included "Mariah Carey" (2x platinum), "Music Box" (11x platinum) and "Daydream" (5x platinum). Mariah is back this week with the second single from her "Charmbracelet" album, a song titled "Boy (I Need You)". The song includes vocals by Cam'ron who had a recent top 30 hit with "Hey Ma". However, Mariah is again destined for little success with this single - it debuts only at number 29 after peaking last month in the UK at just number 17.
