Death of a dynasty
Damon Dash | This Wednesday, May 7, 2003, the new Damon Dash movie will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival as a special screenings selection. Nothing special you'd think, but Mariah has a small part in this movie. She plays herself, just like Carson Daly, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z and many others. The name of the movie is "Death of a dynasty".
Written by Adam "Blue" Moreno, this is a comedy/musical. Production started in mid-July, 2002 in New York City and the Hamptons, NY, and wrapped up later that same summer. When it will be released is still uncertain, because there is not yet a distributor.
This film is loosely based upon Damon Dash's own experiences as the founder of the Roc-a-Fella Records rap music label. A young journalist, Moss-Bachrach, who writes for a hip-hop magazine called "Mic Check", starts following a music mogul around as part of a story and over time incorrectly starts to think he is part of that world, which leads to him writing an article for a gossip newspaper that starts a rivalry between the producer and his most famous rapper.
