Jacko vid online
The video for Michael Jackson's long-lost charity single, "What More Can I Give?"
has surfaced online, dotmusic can report. The track, which features vocals from
the likes of Celine Dion, 'NSYNC, Beyonce Knowles, Usher and Mariah Carey, was
recorded in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks but was never given an official
release.
However, the video - which shows the all-star cast laying down vocals for the
track - has now found its way on to Jacko fansite, www.jacksondailynews.net
The video was originally previewed at Germany's Bambi Awards in 2002 where Jackson
was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement trophy.
Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey, Usher, Luther Vandross and Gloria Estefan all
feature prominently on the track with Jackson himself joining in for the chorus:
"What have I got that I can give?/ To love and to teach you/ To Hold and to need you/
What more can I give?" Acording to reports, only 200 copies of "What More Can I Give?"
were pressed and distributed before disagreements between Jackson and Sony Music
resulted in the project being shelved.
Marc Schaffel, executive producer of the track, last year described the song as
"a gift to the world". He told MTV: "Michael and everyone donated their time for
it, and it deserves to be heard. The song is called What More Can I Give? and I
can give the world a song they can cling onto and hopefully make them think about
what they can give."
Both English and Spanish language versions of the track were recorded and both are
currently available to download in full online.
