Official "B.O.T.H." press release

Mariah Carey has shown her fans many sides to her diverse personality over the course of her illustrious career. She's a Pop Princess, a Ballad-Belting Diva, a Hip Hop Queen, to name a few. In her latest video, "Bringin' On The Heartbreak", Mariah adds "Rock Star" to that list with a new look that will catch her fans by surprise.
Donning sheer, flowing fabrics in her new video, Mariah's portrayal of a legendary rock star is reminiscent of the 1979 film, "The Rose" starring Bette Midler. A jam-packed Grand Olympic Arena in Los Angeles provides a dramatic backdrop for her spine-tingling performance of the Def Leppard cover.
Always one to keep a close relationship with her fans, Mariah reached out via her website, www.mariahcarey.com, to recruit over 3,000 fans to be extras in the video, adding the authentic energy of a screaming, adoring crowd. "I was really excited with the concept of this video as it allowed me to involve my fans", comments Ms. Carey. Throughout the video shoot, Mariah interacted with the "extras". At one point, during a break in filming, Mariah passed the microphone around the crowd. One lucky fan, in a dream come true, took that moment to sing a Mariah classic, "Vision Of Love", to her idol.
"Bringin' on the Heartbreak" was directed by Sanaa Hamri, who has directed several videos for Mariah including "Cry Baby" and "Don't Stop" as well as videos for Prince, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, and Destiny's Child. Sanaa wanted to create an "original and timeless" video for Mariah's latest single.
The shoot features many cameos including Jane's Addiction/Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro, who performs with Mariah during the video's electrifying live performance. Superproducer Randy Jackson, who has worked with Mariah throughout her career and has now gained notoriety as a judge on American Idol, is also a member of her band. Model Damon Willis portrays her lover. Even Joe Millionaire's Evan Marriot makes an appearance helping Mariah off the helicopter.
The video is being released as Mariah prepares for her recently announced world tour, which will take her to Asia, North America, and Europe over the next 4 1/2 months. "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" is the third single from her latest album, Charmbracelet, her debut release for her newly formed label, MonarC Entertainment, released in conjunction with the Island Def Jam Music Group.
