A recap of the Mariah birthday bash
It was an eventful day at #Mariah on Undernet as dozens of fans gathered to celebrate their beloved songstress's birthday. All throughout the day, even before the festivities started, the channel was buzzing with commotion. Visitors from around the world flocked to #Mariah to mingle and express their heartfelt sentiments about Mariah. Many birthday wishes were given, and some recounted a few of their favorite memories such as meeting Mariah and seeing her on tour. As the hour of chat approached, games, such as hangman and trivia, became the main focus. At one point, we had 50 people in the channel and a happening game of Mariah trivia going with the channel's bot MirageCS. Team 2 won all of those early rounds.
ElScorcho (Will), the channel manager of #Mariah, was our host and lead moderator for the evening. At 7PM GMT-5 (ET), he commenced the Birthday Bash with a special dedication speech: "Welcome to the 11th Annual Mariah Carey Online Birthday Bash. Ever since 1994, Mariah fans worldwide have been gathering online to celebrate her birthday. Tonight will be another memorable addition to the event's history.
This event will act as the hub for Mariah fan communication, allowing fans unlimited chat and dialogue and a chance to talk about Mariah's past, present, and future. It will also serve as a place for people to meet new online friends, local fans and pen pals, as well as win prizes in special contests, participate in interactive games and trivia, and swap rare audio and video files.
In today's world, society is seemingly growing further apart everyday. It is a rare feat when humans can come together for anything. But tonight, people from very different countries, races, genders, religious groups, and backgrounds are joining each other in this very chat room. We may be very different and live in completely opposite worlds, but one thing unites us all tonight: our love of Mariah Carey.
For the last fourteen years, Mariah's music has been a daily inspiration in most of our lives, and a continuous comfort that has seen both the best and worst times. For the last thirty four years, Mariah has been gracing the world with her unique presence and outstanding talent. Tonight we are celebrating that culmination of amazing character.

And so it began. Some of the countries represented in the chat were the United States, Canada, Brasil, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Ireland, UK, Poland, the Phillipines, India, Israel, Germany, Mexico, the Bahamas, Argentina, and Australia. At its peak the guest list numbered 76 people.
Prizes were given at random through the course of the evening to people who could answer various Mariah related trivia questions. We had many interesting discussions, and the games continued through the night. Overall, the chat was a huge success as everyone seemed to have a great time.
