Mariah Carey reveals more details on new album

During the latest interviews that Mariah has offered to many radio stations (103.5 from New York, the Russ Parr Morning Show, the B96 and Kiss 103.5 FM from Chicago, KIIS 102.7 FM and Power106 from L.A, etc.) she has commented about her latest single "It's Like That" and she has revealed some details of her highly anticipated new album "The Emancipation of Mimi". The album is expected to be on sale April 12 in America.

Mariah mentioned more about the songs she has done with Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell, and Nelly. She also named another collaboration with Traxter as producer, which features Twista. The track is titled "One And Only". According to Mariah, her favorite song on the album is a new collaboration with Jermaine Dupri called "We Belong Together", which is a mid-tempo song. She talked about how much Jermaine knows her as a person and as an artist, and commented that they agreed to work together again in many songs from the new album, but that both though they couldn't do any song better than former works. Fortunately, the results were still to be discovered.

About "It's Like That", Mariah revealed that she stayed until 6am in the morning in the studio when she recorded the single. Smiling, Mariah said she barely sleeps when she goes to the Jermaine Dupri's studios in Atlanta. She also commented that "It's Like That" is one of her favorite tracks in years, and that working with LA Reid has been a blessing. A DJ told her that many people call requesting "I Like That" instead of "It's Like That", she answered "well, I like that".

The music video for "It's Like That", directed by Paul Hunter, is going to be filmed during these days and the next week. After the shooting, Mariah is going to fly to New York to start the promotion. About the album "The Emancipation of Mimi", Mariah said it is a very personal album and that it comes from her heart, but at the same time it is a party record. Now, Mariah is organizing everything. There is a good mixture of ballads and rhythmic tracks, but she insisted that the ballads are not over produced, something that she feels she's done in the past. Mariah Carey is very happy with the collaborations, and LA Reid has given her a lot of control. It is still not decided how the new cover is going to be, but she has already taken the photo shoot. She insists the photos will be "appropriate".

Carey has received good reviews to her films, and Mariah commented that she would like to do more independent films, remembering her role in "Wisegirls". She remembers when the producer chose her when he heard Mariah's accent from New York in the Rossie O'Donnell show. She also mentioned that Mira Sorvino asked the producers to call Mariah for the role of Raychel. About the movie she was supposedly doing as a boxer, she said it was a possible project that sometimes is in her plans and sometimes it's not. Mariah confirmed she is planning to debut in Broadway next Christmas, where beside singing tracks from her album "Merry Christmas", she'll include new songs she has been writing for the play. She also remembered O.D.B, saying it was a tough moment, and that she knows people still remember when he used to sing "Me and Mariah..." from her #1 hit "Fantasy", and that she will miss him.
