A new Carey career

We never thought Mariah Carey would be the one to take the fairly well-trodden former pop star path into appearing in musicals (remember Jon S Club? or H Steps?), but it seems we were, like, so wrong. The big-lunged uber-diva is currently in talks with the producers of a musical version of the Marilyn Monroe film The Prince And The Showgirl, and is said to be very close to signing a deal that will see her on the West End stage next year.

A musical theatre insider told the Mirror: "Mariah's pretty much confirmed as the lead in the musical - she'll be starring as Elsie Marina, the role Marilyn Monroe made famous on film." And it seems that Mazza will be moving her whole diva operation over to London while she's at it.

The insider continued: "As she's likely to be here for several months, she's looking to buy a place in Belgravia. It has to have at least six bedrooms and it's fair to say that money is no object." And, seeing as it's Mariah, neither is taste, right?
