"It's Like That" moves up to #16

"It's Like That" reaches a new peak on the Hot 100 this week with a four position move to #16. And with a new peak of #14 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart, it surpasses the peak of "Thank God I Found You". The last Mariah single to do better was 1999's "Heartbreaker" which made it to #8. Again this is discounting the success of 2003's "I Know What You Want" which made the top five on both the Hot 100 and the Hot 100 Airplay chart.

Last week "It's Like That" lost its bullet on the R&B airplay chart but maintained it on the main R&B chart. This week the opposite occurs. "That" maintains its #17 position on the R&B singles chart minus a bullet but regains its bullet on the corresponding airplay chart. That also means that now it is doing better on the overall Hot 100 than on the format specific R&B singles chart.

Fueling that interesting statistic is a strong performance on Top 40 Mainstream radio which up until now had given Mariah the cold shoulder for nearly a decade. With a peak at #16, this gives Mariah her highest charting single on this chart since 1997's "Honey" which went to #10 (not counting "I Know ...").
