Mariah added to video music awards performance bill

Mariah Carey's decided that she belongs together - with Kanye West. And Kelly Clarkson. And Green Day. That's because Carey's just signed on to sing at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, along with the Killers, the channel announced Tuesday.

Carey (who's nominated for two awards for "We Belong Together") and the Killers (who are nominated for four VMAs for "Mr. Brightside") join previously announced performers West, Clarkson and Green Day at the August 28 event.

The link between Carey and the Killers, of course, is that their nominated clips both feature guest star Eric Roberts, the actor who may just be this year's lucky charm, a role Gwen Stefani played during the 2001 VMAs for both Eve ("Let Me Blow Ya Mind") and Moby ("South Side").

More announcements regarding performers and presenters are expected in the coming weeks.
