Carey still No. 1 as "Together" goes to 11
For an 11th non-consecutive time, Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" finds itself
on top of the Billboard Hot 100. The track also holds at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop
Songs chart, where it has remained for 12 straight weeks. In addition, "Together" is
at the head of the Hot Ringtones chart for a third straight week and No. 3 on the Pop
100 for a second.
The Pussycat Dolls' "Don't Cha" featuring Busta Rhymes, which ousted "Together" from
the Pop 100 lead, is in its third consecutive week at No. 1 there. On the Hot 100,
"Don't Cha" continues its quest for the top, advancing 3-2 this week.
Although Rihanna's "Pon de Replay" falls 2-3 on the Hot 100, it retains its bullet,
signifying continued sales and airplay growth. It remains steady at No. 2 on the Pop
100 and tops the Hot Digital Tracks chart for a fourth straight week.
Lifehouse's "You and Me" is also gunning for the top of the Hot 100, moving up 8-6,
but must get past Bow Wow's "Let Me Hold You" featuring Omarion and Missy Elliot's
"Lose Control" featuring Ciara and Fat Man Scoop, which hold at No. 4 and No. 5,
respectively.
D.H.T.'s "Listen To Your Heart" advances 10-8, while Kelly Clarkson's "Behind These
Hazel Eyes" remains locked at No. 7 for a fifth straight week. Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback
Girl" slides 6-9, while Ludacris' "Pimpin' All Over the World" featuring Bobby Valentino
jumps 11-10 to close out the top tier.
Notable Hot 100 advancements include Carey's "Shake It Off", which jumps 19-12 in only
its fourth week on the chart, and Natasha Bedingfield's "These Words", which springs
23-17 in its eighth. The chart's greatest sales gainer is the Click Five's "Just the
Girl", which makes a 52-21 move, while the greatest airplay gainer is Bow Wow's "Like
You" featuring Ciara, which bounces 49-25.
The Hot 100's top debut is "Seasons of Love", credited to the cast of the forthcoming
film "Rent", which is based on the stage musical of the same name. The track is currently
exclusively available via Apple's iTunes music store.
Debuting at No. 80 on the Hot 100 is Axel F's "Crazy Frog". A dance remix of Harold
Faltermeyer's 1985 hit of the same name by Wolfgang Boss and Reinhardt Raith, the cut
spent four weeks at No. 1 on the U.K. singles chart. Also new this week are the Black
Eyed Peas' "My Humps" (No. 85), Gretchen Wilson's "All Jacked Up" (No. 97) and Beck's
"Girl" (No. 100).
Toby Keith's "As Good As I Once Was" is No. 1 for a fifth week on Billboard's Hot
Country Songs list and Shakira's "La Tortura" featuring Alejandro Sanz is on top of
the Hot Latin Songs tally for a 10th non-consecutive week. Rob Thomas' "Lonely No More"
ascends 3-1 to take over the lead of the Adult Contemporary airplay tally from Michael
Buble's "Home", which falls to No. 3, while the Foo Fighters' "Best of You" tops the
Mainstream Rock chart for a fourth week and the Modern Rock chart for a fifth.
In related news, Billboard.com has begun selling "Early Edition" versions of the Hot
100, Hot Country, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop, Hot Latin and Hot Dance/Club Play Songs charts in
the VNU Business Media Marketplace. These Early Edition versions of the rankings
represent the first opportunity for readers to see that week's Billboard charts.
Presented in easy-to-use Excel format, the charts include bullets, each song's imprint
& number, label and distributor information and Recording Industry Association of
America (RIAA) certification. The Early Edition country and Latin charts are available
Monday; the Hot 100 and Hot R&B Songs charts come out early Wednesday evening and the
Hot Dance/Club Play is released on Friday afternoons, a full week before Billboard hits
newsstands.
