Carey's "Together" notches 12 No. 1 weeks
Of the 20 weeks Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" has been on the Billboard Hot
100, a dozen have now been spent in the No. 1 position. The track's reign was
interrupted for just one frame, thanks to the strong entry of Carrie Underwood's
"Inside Your Heaven" in June, but it has otherwise ruled the roost all summer.
On the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, the cut enters its 13th straight week on top,
while the title is also No. 1 on the Hot Ringtones tally for a fourth. After holding
off various challengers, the strongest competition for "Together" may come from
another Carey single. On the Hot 100, her "Shake It Off" advances 12-6 in its fifth
week and is the chart's greatest airplay gainer. On the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop list, it
jumps 14-10, while on the Pop 100, where former No. 1 "Together" holds at No. 3,
"Shake" rattles 21-15. "Shake" is also bounding up the Hot Digital Tracks chart,
advancing 36-23 in its second week.
With "Together" locked at No. 1 on the Hot 100, the Pussycat Dolls' "Don't Cha"
featuring Busta Rhymes has to settle for a second week at No. 2, followed by
Rihanna's "Pon de Replay" at No. 3 and Bow Wow's "Let Me Hold You" at No. 4. On
the Pop 100, "Don't Cha" is No. 1 for a fourth week, while "Replay" repeats itself
in the top slot of the Hot Digital Tracks list.
Bow Wow's "Like You" featuring Ciara is one of the cuts making a big move on the
Hot 100, jumping 25-12. Other notable advancements include Kanye West's "Gold Digger"
featuring Jamie Foxx (47-30), Black Eyed Peas' "Don't Lie" (50-31) and Green Day's
"Wake Me Up When September Ends" (86-49). The latter is also the Hot 100's greatest
sales gainer, and is the top debut on the Hot Digital Tracks chart at No. 27.
The Hot 100's top debut is Marques Houston's "Naked" at No. 89. Bowing right behind
it at No. 90 is Luis Fonsi's "Nada Es Para Siempre", which takes over the lead on
the Hot Latin Songs chart, ending the 10-week (non-consecutive) reign of Shakira's
"La Tortura" featuring Alejandro Sanz, which drops to No. 2.
Other Hot 100 debuts are Chris Brown's "Run" (No. 92), the Killers' "All These Things
That I've Done" (No. 95) and Paul Wall's "Sittin' Sideways" featuring Big Pokey and
T-Pain's "I'm Sprung" (No. 100).
The Foo Fighters relinquish control of the rock airplay charts, falling to No. 2 on
the Modern Rock tally after five weeks on top and trading places with Gorillaz' "Feel
Good Inc". On the Mainstream Rock list, the four-week No. 1 run of "Best" ends as
Seether's "Remedy" rebounds from No. 2 to notch a fifth non-consecutive week on top.
On the Hot Country Songs roundup, Toby Keith's "As Good As I Once Was" is No. 1 for
a sixth week in a row, while Rob Thomas' "Lonely No More" is in the pole position on
the Adult Contemporary chart for a second.
