PMCF 3rd anniversary party: a success
One word: Success. The Philippine Mariah Carey Fanclub's (PMCF) 3rd Year Anniversary Party was an undeniable triumph for the group. With Mariah decors all over the place (butterfly, #1, and sunflower cut outs were hanged), a mix of new and old PMCF members and non-members alike were present to celebrate PMCF's third year in existence. Since 2002, the group has been organizing parties and celebrations like this, but last Saturday's party was the biggest of them all. More than 35 lambs and guests attended the party last August 27 at Hobby's Bar and Resto, Makati City.
During the event, members got to know each other through various activities such as member introductions and fun games. Attendees were able to chit-chat with one another during dinner time while rare Mariah videos were shown. The party, hosted by Honey and Ken, started a couple of minutes before 8pm. Tynn led the prayer while Russel gave a short welcome message. From there, the fun began with the different games and activities that the group prepared.
The fun games started with the selection of the fans who can hit the highest and lowest notes. True enough, fans attempted to hit the highnotes Mariah is famous for and tried to breach the low notes Mariah does so effortlessly. Toffee and Richard gave their all to hit the highnote while River, Cyril, and Richard tried to reach the lownote. All of them were winners and were given prices.
After that, the "Mariah Quiz Show" began. The fans were grouped into three and were asked to form their respective lines. The first team to get five points wins. The quiz began and the questions were asked. The winning team advanced to the next round, but this time they work individually. Cyril and Patti won over the six participants left, and were chosen to advance to the final round where they are supposed to go head to head. But as the final round is about to begin, Cyril pulled out and Patti won the contest by default. Patti got the very nice "Be nice or leave" award from Honey.
The "Lambs-sing-Mimi Singing Contest" that was supposed to happen after the Mariah Quiz show, turned unexpectedly into the "WBT Challenge" because all participants only sang "We belong together" in front of the group. Six participants vied for the prize which is the latest issue of the Allure Magazine where Mariah is in the cover. Among the six contenders, Macky won the contest and got the Allure Magazine from Rico.
After the "Mariah Quiz Show" and the "WBT Challenge", the lambs were served performances from select PMCF members led by Russel (a Mariah impersonator who dressed up as Mimi that night) who sang her version of "We belong together" and other Mariah songs. Other performers include Honey and Ken. The performances ended and the "Mariah Rare Video Showcase" began. As the title suggests, Mariah's rarest videos were shown to the delight of the fans.
Before the party ended, some announcements were made. The PMCF officers gave the yet-to-be-members an overview of what they have been doing the past months and what they are planning to do in the future.
Food and drinks, which came from the members themselves, were served throughout the party. Among the other highlights of the party was the photo exhibit entitled "The Evolution of Mimi: Mariah through the years", which features pictures of Mariah from 1990 to 2005 - showing how much she has changed physically over the years.
The celebration ended and everyone went home happily. The party is just one of the many projects planned by PMCF. A Halloween Party is temporarily scheduled on October 29. Watch out for more details. (MariahCareyPh.com)
