Mariah pulls a J.Lo

As Mariah Carey well knows, all that Glitters may not be gold. But that's not stopping the Mimi from putting out some real sparklers. The comeback queen is following in the footsteps of fellow Grammy-winning multihyphenates Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Gwen Stefani, and is set to expand her empire to the fashion world.

Carey has launched her own jewelry and accessories line called Glamorized by Mariah Carey, which is available beginning this week at Claire's and Icing stores nationwide. In a posting to her Website this week, Carey announced her line's debut. "Hey girls, I am so excited to share with you my new jewelry and accessory line," she wrote. "Wear it and you'll be a Hot Tamale."

The line, which she says is high on style and low on price, will be geared toward the pop diva's teen fans and includes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, purses, makeup bags and rings, many featuring the "We Belong Together" singer's trademark butterfly logo.

The Charmbracelet singer, and now designer, has also expressed interest in putting her name to a line of perfume. The scent will reportedly be based on white flowers. As for Glamorized, Carey joins a successful girl-friendly roster of celebrity lines already carried exclusively by Claire's and Icing stores, including surfer Bethany Hamilton, Raven-Symone, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Ashlee Simpson and Hilary Duff, whose "stuff" line is a big seller at the mall franchises.

Jewelry wasn't the only thing on Carey's mind this week. She also announced that she will attempt to make amends for Glitter by heading back to the big screen in the indie drama Tennessee. The film, shooting this spring, stars Carey as a small-town waitress who sets off with her two brothers to try and find their estranged father.

Carey also took time out this week for a one-on-one Wednesday in the Barbara Walters Oscar Special. The 35-year-old singer spoke out on a variety of topics, including whether she will ever be a mother. "I still don't know if I want to have children," she said. "If that's in the cards for me... it's not if I 'want' to have children. I feel like being a celebrity and having kids is a huge responsibility. I would want to make sure I was fully prepared to handle what would happen to those kids when they have to deal with the baggage of having a famous parent."
