Mariah a "heartless celebrity"?

A website by an animal fur rights organization has branded Mariah Carey a "heartless celebrity" who supposedly uses real animal furs for her wardrobe. By this, the organization is directly calling Mimi a "fur abuser" who is "cruel" to animals.

The Anti-Fur Society has listed Mariah among other known celebrity fur abusers such as Jennifer Lopez and Madonna, celebrities who has long been targeted by the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for allegedly using real animal fur for their outfits.

Calling Mariah an "animal fur abuser" is an unfair, harsh, and unfounded label. Though not the most prominent face in the fight for animal rights, Mariah has been a quiet supporter for the cause. In 2005, reports flew that Mariah rejected a fur coat gift from a Russian tycoon allegedly worth more than 5,000 pounds each. Pravda.RU, a Russian website, reported that Mariah was apparently "shocked and dismayed" to have received the gift.

Mariah then had the furs sent to the New York office of PETA, according to the Pravda.RU source. Surprisingly, the Anti-Fur Society website does not appear to have any contact details (mailing or e-mail address, phone number) listed where concerned people might send them a message.
