It's been a minute since a hook girl has swiped a song from the headliners, but when it's Mariah Carey or Ashanti singing the hooks that is only a matter of time. Carey delightfully coos her way through Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's "Li'l L.O.V.E." (Full Surface/Interscope), offering up one of the summer's best choruses. Ashanti nails her soulful cameo on Jagged Edge's "Put a Little Umph in It" (So So Def), immediately making listeners want more of her on the slow jam - a good sign for her upcoming album.
