Mariah Carey likes it steamy

Mariah Carey says she's putting a tip she learned from the late Luther Vandross to good use. She tells Interview magazine that Vandross told her that humidity is good for the voice and skin, and now she has a steam room with a bed in it in her New York home. Carey says she sleeps in the room for about three hours, and then goes into her regular bedroom.

Carey opens up about a number of other subjects in the interview, including her marriage with Tommy Mottola that ended in divorce. Carey says she felt like she was in a "controlling situation" where she wasn't allowed to be herself. She says she left when it became too much, and that the situation inspired her to write the song "Butterfly" in 1997.

Her next album is due out by the end of the year, and Carey says it will be a "fun record" featuring work with a lot of different people, mainly rappers.
