Mariah's scent of a diva
Mariah Carey received a rousing welcome when she launched her own perfume yesterday in New York City. After arriving at Macy's Herald Square in a black Bentley, the Emancipation Of Mimi singer walked down a purple carpet that was rolled out specially, as the crowds cheered and shouted her name.
Once inside, Mariah met fans and signed autographs. Her debut fragrance, M By Mariah Carey, combines three of her favourite scents - Moroccan incense, Tahitian flower and toasted marshmallows - and comes in a purple bottle with her signature butterfly icon on the top.
"It's light, sensual and memorable," she told Billboard of M. "The marshmallow aspect is blended in there - it's not like you're gonna walk around smelling of marshmallows." But she did make a surprising admission. Mariah said: "This is the first fragrance that I wear. I'm not really a perfume person at all. Things that are too strong and overwhelming, that's what I was always not a fan of." (Metro)
