Mariah's jealous rage
Pop diva Mariah Carey flew into a white-hot fury, say sources, after learning that her ex-hubby's fiancee - sexy Latin soap siren Thalia - also had a sizzlin fling with her current beau Luis Miguel!
"It's like she's haunting her," insiders say. "Mariah won't be humiliated this way. It's bad enough she's marrying her ex. But this little romance with her Luis is the last straw!"
Insiders say Mariah wasn't happy from the start that leggy Thalia is going to tie the knot with Sony records mogul Tommy Mottola, 52, in December. But the 30-year-old songbird was positively seething after she learned that Thalia had been romantically linked to Luis, her Latin pop hunk beau.
"Finding out about Luis' past fling with Thaila around the same time as Tommy's wedding announcement really got to Mariah," confides a source. "She's fuming and she doesn't want to hear that woman's name again!"
Explains another insider: "Mariah feels she's been one-upped in love by Thalia - not once but twice! Now, just the mention of Thalia's name wil send Mariah into a full-blown hissy fit!" And it doesn't help that there's an old photo on Luis's website of him and Thaila kissing and several others of them in a very tight clinch!
Sources say Luis, 30, and Thaila both began their careers in Mexico City in the late '80s and carried on a secret romance when they were teen idols. "I think that if they had come out and said they were dating, they would have broken the hearts of millions of fans and it would have hurt their record sales," explains a source.
While the romance is supposedly over, Latin music insiders have hinted that sparks are still flying between the pair. And Luis and Thalia are often spotted together at music functions. "We just happened to see each other at many different events," says Thalia coyly.
Mariah's spokeswoman Cindyh Berger tells Globe that Luis and Thaila were never lovers and "Mariah is very happy that Tommy is getting married again." But insiders say the songbird still has "deep, lasting feelings" for Tommy, whom she divorced in 1998 after five years claiming he was too possessive. And she went ballistic, insiders say after learning from others that Luis had not told her anything about his old relationship with Thalia.
"Mariah told pals, 'Luis conveniently forgot to mention anything to me about a fling with Thalia,' " notes the source. "So if Thalia knows what's good for her, she'll stay out of Mariah's way. And if Luis knows what's good for him, he won't dare even breathe Thalia's name in her presence!" (Globe) Here is a message from Karina from Argentina:
I just want to say Thalia has never gone out with Luis Miguel. I am a member of the LM online fan club and believe me they were never lovers. It's true Luis had many girlfriends and it's also true that Thalia was chasing him, but that was a long time ago. Regarding the pictures, I saw them and that was for a cover of a magazine ("Eres" I guess) and they were very young. So don't believe all the things they are saying, Mariah is very much in love with Luis and he loves her too. He has changed for good since he is going out with MC, so they don't need this.
