Mariah's loveboat

Lucky Mariah Carey has been given a £1million speedboat by her lover, Luis Miguel. Multimillionaire Luis, who we revealed last week had become engaged to the singer, surprised Mariah with the amazing present after she had finishing filming her new flick, All That Glitters. The speedboat, which was given to her last week, is the latest in a long line of lavish gifts from her lover - known in South America as the Mexican Elvis.

Mariah is worth around £200 million herself, but that doesn't stop singer Luis splashing out on her. One of Mariah's friends revealed: "He bought her the speedboat to say 'well done' for All That Glitters. Mariah has worked really hard on the film and is recording the soundtrack to it as well. Luis splashed out because he thought she deserved a little something for all the hours she has put in. It's a gorgeous boat and cost him a fortune. But as far as Luis is concerned, when it comes to Mariah money's no option."

Luis, 30, has showered Mariah with rare gemstones and jewellery, and has also sent her red roses every day since they first met at a party in December, 1998. As we told you last week, Luis proposed to Mariah while they were in the Bahamas together earlier this month.

"Luis spoils Mariah like mad," added the friend. "He's always getting her something, but she never expected anything like this. Mariah really is over the moon with the speedboat and she just can't wait to get it out on the ocean."

Mariah, 29, is currently adding the final touches to the soundtrack of All That Glitters. As well as singing for the film, she also takes the lead role - opposite Spice Girl Mel B's squeeze Max Beesley - as a struggling singer in what is a classic rags-to-riches tale.

Her acting has impressed Hollywood bigwigs so much they have inundated her with future film roles. Offers Mariah is considering include playing legendary Egyptian queen Cleopatra, plus the title role of Wonderwoman in a remake of the Seventies superheroine series.
