Mariah born to sing Christmas songs

The Associated Press (AP) has named Mariah one of the singers who were born to sing holiday tunes. In a review of Rick Springfield's "Christmas with you" album, AP said: "There are certain vocalists who were born to sing holiday music: Tony Bennett, Elvis Presley and Mariah Carey, to name a few. The best make yuletide standards seem new again or produce their own classics, as Carey did with 'All I Want for Christmas is you'. Rick Springfield is not one of those singers."

On the other hand, DetNews stated that "All I want for Christmas is you" is "quite honestly one of the most joyous songs ever recorded". DetNews added that the original Mariah Christmas track, immortalized in the movie "Love, Actually", is full of "life-affirming energy and spirit".

Chart news looks bright for the song as well. "All I Want for Christmas is you" sold 11,794 downloads this week in the USA (up by 81% from a week ago), bringing the sales total of the song to 612,517 copies. Airplay-wise, the song currently has 9.3 million audience impressions, Mediabase said.
