Celebs share their Crimbo classics
Shakin' Stevens, Elton John and Mariah Carey are some of the finest exponents of the Christmas song - according to their fellow celebs. Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody is regarded by many as the greatest, although fans of Bing Crosby's White Christmas (or Blue Christmas, for those who prefer Elvis Presley rendition) may dispute this.
A few of the classics resurfaced in the pop charts, notably The Pogues, Fairytale of New York. And this year is the first where it has been possible for a song available only for download to enter the charts, meaning a host of other Christmas classics have made it back into the top 40.
But the oldies are certainly the goodies so here is a special mention to a couple of other gems. Johnny Mathis' When A Child Is Born is the perfect song to sip a lazy Christmas cognac too and lest we forget Frank Sinatra's Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! (Independent Television News)
