More confirmations of Mariah Carey's wedding

There is still no official confirmation from the couple regarding their alleged wedding, but more unofficial confirmations have poured in since the rumors started. The latest confirmations come from a Bahamian official and the reverend who performed the ceremony. A Bahamian tourism official said to Access Hollywood that the couple wed on Wednesday at Windermere Island, located in the Bahamas, just off the mainland of Eluethera. Also, Bishop Clifford Petty of the National Church of God in the Caribbean told People that he presided over the wedding. Petty also claims that he gave no sermon.

Meanwhile, Carey canceled her engagement with "The View" on Monday. Honeymoon? Carey is on a good wave this year - her most recent studio effort, the not so formulaic "E=MC2", has sold 463,000 copies, becoming her sixth No. 1 album on the U.S. pop chart, scoring the highest debut of the year by any artist so far. Last month, she surpassed Elvis Presley on the Billboard charts as the solo artist with most No. 1 singles, by reaching her eighteenth No. 1 with her latest single, "Touch My Body".

Barbra Streisand remains the female artists with most No. 1 albums, eight, while Carey, Madonna and Janet Jackson tie for the second most No. 1 albums. Mariah Carey has been previously married with Tommy Mottola. The two got married in 1993 three years after Mariah made her debut under Mottola’s guidance. They divorced in 1998.

Last year, Nick Cannon called off his engagement to model Selita Ebanks. During an interview with MTV US, he did everything he could to avoid a confirmation of the relationship with Carey. However, he gave a hint: "Rumors happen." He participated early this year in a will.i.am-produced music video for Barack Obama entitled "Yes We Can".
