Damizza clarifies upcoming book, not "tell-all"

In early August, HipHopDX reported that Damizza was planning to publish a "tell-all" book on the behind the scenes workings of Dr. Dre, Jay-Z and The Game. After speaking with DX late last week, the pioneering west coast radio personality, producer and music consultant said that those reports were a bit misleading.

"I'm working on a book, which is really my life story on all the experiences I've gone through; it's not a tell-all on anybody. Of course baby girl freaked out, and all kinds of shit," Damizza did add, referencing Mariah Carey's ordering a cease and desist of mention of her. Damizza produced her hit single "Cry Baby" and considered the R&B diva a friend.

"It's about the Dre and Snoop [Dogg] reunion. It's about the rise of west coast rap in the late '80s, and Low Profile, and all of that kind of stuff," Damizza says of the book's chronicles. He also writes of the conversation he had with Notorious B.I.G. the morning of the last day of his life.

The book also includes passages on Bishop Lamont and Warren G. "Warren should be given credit for being a forefather of the whole G-Funk era. Snoop brought all of them to the table," says Damizza. The book also describes the recording sessions for Eminem's introductory classic "Hi, My Name Is".

"Why would I change who I am through all these years just to cash out?" said Damizza about misconceptions of a tell-all tale. The man, now working with Bishop Lamont, stressed the book is positive. Guilty By Association will be published in the first quarter of 2009.
