Mariah teams up with Willie Nelson on "Right to dream"

Mariah Carey is set to start in another singer role in the movie Tennessee. However, it won't be another Glitter mistake. The plot of the movie is about two brothers leaving New Mexico to find their father in hope of saving one of them who has leukemia. While on their venture, they find Mariah's character, who is an aspiring singer, and she leaves her power hungry husband. Certainly that is a different scene than her last crashing movie that saw her an aspiring singer who got involved with dirty politics in the record industry, losing a love.

The song "Right to Dream" is a new song by the diva, co-written with Willie Nelson that is featured in the movie. The song will be released to iTunes on November 25th and old school Mariah fans will be happy to hear the tune as well as current fans. Though Willie Nelson is a country act, the song is not country and is not the R&B diva Mariah made her strong comeback on. The song is very reminiscent of her earlier years in the '90s where she sang power ballads and tear jerking adult Top 40 songs.

The song is built around mainly just a guitar. Opening with her subtle undertones, she sings along the guitar melody with a haunting yet sad lyric. "I lay awake sometimes/ Scared to close my eyes/ And I wonder where I left myself/ I lost the will to fight..." she sings before singing about nights changing to morning effortlessly and it's still cold though the sun is out.

The fire is burning out in her soul and she's not capable keeping up. But as the song leads toward the chorus, there's almost a change of heart. There's hope residing inside somewhere. Somewhere inside, there's someone strong. Her soul will be fine with just a little time thanks to dreams. She has a lot of them and she has the right. That's what's keeping her alive and going on, knowing there's more than the misery and there's more out there.

There's icy sheets around the heart and she's learned to block the pain. But tomorrow holds for a better day and she's not giving up, once again coming alive. Coming alive isn't easy however and she's still hoping for time to alleviate the pain. Again, it's that little glimmer of hope inside and the dreams she holds.
