Curvy Carey: Mariah is a bigger star than ever at Cannes
Married life is certainly agreeing with Mariah Carey. Spotted showing off a curvier frame at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend, the award-winning singer appears to have succumbed to the newlywed curse of piling on the pounds after marrying.
Leaving her hotel on the French Riviera with husband Nick Cannon on Sunday, Mariah appeared to have the definition in her arms as she showed off her physique in an orange halterneck maxi dress. When the 40-year-old first started dating her now-husband Nick, 28, in March 2008, she was slim and toned thanks to daily workout sessions in her swimming pool. But clearly feeling more comfortable and secure in life now she's married, Mariah recently admitted she had put on "few pounds", but was resuming her fitness plan again after several months off.
Writing on her Twitter micro-blogging page last month, Mariah denied reports she was pregnant: "If I gained a few pounds... My trainer's back living with me." Throughout her career, Mariah has always paid more attention to her music than her figure, branding the media's obsession with weight "ridiculous". But after a comment from a friend over her shape, Mariah admitted she felt propelled to tone up and hired personal trainer Patricia Gay.
Mariah was so proud of her figure, she showed off her figure in bikini as she demonstrated her work-out regime. Mariah spent four days promoting her new film Precious on the French Riviera before returning to Los Angeles on Sunday.
On Friday night, she wore a black Dolce & Gabbana dress which hugged her hourglass figure as she joined her co-stars Lenny Kravtiz and Paula Patton at the screening of her film Precious. Writing on her Twitter page after the premiere, she enthused: "Just got back from the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Precious... it was a stonegroove." On Saturday night she cut an equally alluring impression clad in a patterned Roberto Cavalli dress with a plunging neckline. (Daily Mail)
