Kate Garraway apologises to Mariah

Kate Garraway has been told off by GMTV bosses for making claims about Mariah Carey. The presenter said singer Mariah, 39, brought her own toilet roll to an interview and had two people to lower her on to the famous GMTV sofa - but it has emerged Kate was not even in the studios when the singer was interviewed by Lorraine Kelly, and the claims have been denied by Mariah's management.

Kate, 42, has since apologised to the singer for the claims, made in her column for New! magazine. She wrote: "I've heard a lot of rumours about her being a diva over the years and guess what? It's all true! She had two people to lower her on to the GMTV sofa, in case her dress got crushed, one person to walk in front of her backwards at all times in case she fell over and several people behind the camera making she was going to be filmed from the right angle... Oh, and she brought her own toilet roll as well!"

But a source said: "Hands up, she got the wrong end of the stick. She was completely misinformed and accepts it wasn't true. She's absolutely mortified. She never intended to cause any upset to Mariah. She has been carpeted. She has apologised to Mariah."
