Mariah Carey, Susan Boyle reveal holiday album plans

On September 21, both Mariah Carey and Susan Boyle revealed details of holiday albums set for release in November. Carey's Merry Christmas II You will include a new rendition of her hit holiday single "All I Want For Christmas is You", while Boyle's The Gift will feature the Scottish singer's renditions of several modern classics.

Merry Christmas II You will be Carey's second holiday album. Her 1994 LP Merry Christmas peaked in the top ten on album charts in the US, New Zealand, and throughout Europe, was a number-one hit in Japan, and has gone on to sell an estimated 12 million copies worldwide.

The new album will feature four original songs by Carey, including the single "Oh Santa", as well as Christmas standards including "The First Noel", "Little Drummer Boy", "O Little Town of Bethlehem", and "O Come All Ye Faithful".

Susan Boyle's The Gift will be the second album by the Scottish singer, who rose to stardom on the reality television show Britain's Got Talent. Boyle's first album, I Dreamed a Dream, hit number one in more than 20 countries and has sold more than nine million copies worldwide since it was released in November 2009.

The Gift will include Boyle's rendition of Lou Reed's "Perfect Day", Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", and Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over", as well as a selection of holiday songs. Amber Stassi, winner of the Susan's Search online talent contest, will join Boyle for a duet on "Do You Hear What I Hear?"

Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas II You will be released on November 2, while Susan Boyle's The Gift is due out on November 9 in the US and on November 15 in the US.
