Mariah Carey: pregnancy inspires my music
Mariah Carey thinks motherhood will inspire her to write songs. The American singing superstar is currently pregnant with her and husband Nick Cannon's first offspring. Nick recently revealed the pair are expecting twins, and both stars are thrilled about welcoming the two little ones in the new year.
Mariah isn't sure what effect being a mother will have on her career, although she admits it could well inspire her to write some magical songs. "I have no idea. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'll start writing songs at some point soon, because that's a creative process and I think this is a creative time," she told the British edition of OK! magazine.
For now though, Mariah is happy to spread some festive cheer by singing her iconic Christmas anthems. This year the singer released Merry Christmas II You, an album dedicated to the holiday season, and she feels the record's joyful mood fits in well with the way she's feeling at the moment.
"So I think all that really works. But, fortunately, working on the Christmas album and singing Christmas songs, it sort of fits. And not a lot fits right now, so I'm glad something does," she laughed. (Musicrooms)
